If you’ve seen Digital Products Stores’ ads promising a hands-off digital product business, you might be curious—just like I was. As someone who loves premium digital products, the idea of getting a ready-made website with 30 digital products for $20 sounded like a steal.
But does it deliver? After purchasing and testing it myself, here’s my unbiased review—including the upsells, hosting traps, and whether it’s a scam or legit.
What Digital Products Stores Promises
The ad claims:
✅ $20 one-time fee for a website with 30 digital products
✅ “Set it and forget it” passive income model
✅ Bonuses like a 500-keyword SEO site and email autoresponder
I bought the basic package (plus extras like keyword stuffed website), bringing my total to $104. Then, the upsells began…
The Bait-and-Switch Reality
1. Overpriced Hosting Push
After purchase, they heavily push their monthly hosting plans:
- “Basic” hosting: $25/month
- “Recommended” hosting: $94/month (absurdly expensive!)
- Free hosting: Comes with a spammy-looking domain and slow setup
Their setup guide even discourages the free option, claiming it takes 45 mins–2 hours vs. “5 minutes” with their premium hosting. Clearly, this is a hosting affiliate scheme.
2. Misleading Product Delivery
Instead of 30 digital products, I received one video course (in my chosen niche: productivity). The sales page never mentioned this! Worse, the course was priced at $147 when similar PLR bundles are relatively easy to find in the $7 – $20 range. The prices are editable, but still, any semi informed buyer isn’t going to spend $100+ on a simple video course.
Better Alternatives?
If you want a real digital product business, skip this. Instead:
✔ Buy affordable PLR bundles (e.g., on Etsy or WarriorPlus)
✔ Use low-cost hosting (SiteGround, Bluehost)
✔ Self-host with WordPress for full control
Final Verdict: Avoid Digital Products Stores
This program is a cheap lead magnet designed to sell overpriced hosting. The promised “30 products” are misleading, and the pricing is unrealistic for buyers.
To be completely transparent, I was able to get a refund as they advertise. But they tried to offer me a 50% refund, stating they should deserve some of the money since their designers did so much work. It was at this point (and I was very friendly with the rep, as I absolutely appreciated the prompt response to my refund request) that I informed the service rep that their pages all state full refund if dissatisfied. Not 50% etc, and that I would file a report with my credit card company if a full refund wasn’t received (I 100% recommend using a credit card for purchases like this – it gives you better protection and, unfortunately, you will run into pushy sales reps who want to only refund you half, or claim their is some processing fee of 30% that they are unable to refund. I’ve had this happen on a few occasions, and filing a claim with my credit card company was likely my only saving grace. My guess is this is a standard industry practice and will work on at least a reasonable percentage of customers, so I don’t blame them. But you have options and if they said full refund on the sales page, they better back that up at the end of the day.
Do you have a program that is reasonable and actually works? Let me know in the comments, I’d like to build passive income online and am constantly investigating new programs.
