Google has officially expanded its AI-powered note-taking and research assistant, NotebookLM Plus, to individual users through the Google One AI Premium subscription plan, starting February 10, 2025. Previously available to enterprises via Google Workspace and Google Cloud, this move brings advanced features to a broader audience, including students and professionals.
NotebookLM Plus offers significantly higher usage limits compared to the free version. Subscribers can create up to 500 notebooks (versus 100 in the free version), include 300 sources per notebook (up from 50), perform 500 chat queries per day (compared to 50), and generate up to 20 audio overviews daily (versus 3). These features enhance its functionality as a tool for transforming uploaded materials into summaries, brainstorming ideas, or creating podcast-style audio discussions tailored to user preferences. Advanced customization options allow users to adjust response styles and lengths, share “chat-only” notebooks, and access analytics on shared content usage.
📢 NEW LAUNCH 📢
Today NotebookLM Plus is available to everyone through Google One AI Premium Plans AND students are eligible for a 50% discount. This means
✅5x the notebooks
✅6x the sources per notebook

+ more fun features like customizing your chat!…— NotebookLM (@NotebookLM) February 10, 2025
The Google One AI Premium plan costs $19.99 per month and includes other benefits such as Gemini Advanced tools in Gmail, Docs, and other apps, along with 2 TB of cloud storage. To make it more accessible for students in the U.S., Google is offering a 50% discount for eligible users aged 18 or older, reducing the monthly fee to $9.99 for 12 months. This discount aims to support students in managing course materials, creating study aids, and improving productivity.
NotebookLM Plus builds on the success of its predecessor by integrating features like Audio Overviews, which gained attention after their introduction in September 2024. This feature allows users to generate podcast-like summaries of content they upload, a capability that has drawn comparisons with similar offerings from companies like ElevenLabs and Meta.
The expansion of NotebookLM Plus underscores Google’s commitment to advancing AI tools for education and productivity while competing with other AI-driven platforms in the market.
